- 1954
- Supreme Court votes in favor of Linda in the Brown vs. Board of Education case.
- 1955
- Fourteen year old, Emmett Till, is shot in Mississippi.
Ms. Rosa Parks refuses to give her seat to a white man that marks the start of the Civil Rights Movement.
- 1957
- Nine African American students attend Little Rock Central High, an all white school. Known as the LIttle Rock Nine.
- 1961
- Freedom Riders take a trip to Southern America.
- 1962
- James Meredith is accepted into University of Mississippi. The first black student.
- 1966
- The Black Panthers is founded in Oakland, California.
- 1967-Present
- African Americans have gained/are gaining their rights as an American.
